Day 3: Kutaisi tour

Transfer from Tbilisi to Kutaisi

Bagrati Cathedral: Construction began in the 10th century. The first king of united Georgia, King Bagrat III, commissioned the cathedral which stood intact for seven hundred years. Throughout the following centuries the cathedral suffered heavy damage, especially due to invasions. The conservation and restoration work started in the 1950s. In 1994, the Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery were included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list as a single entity. In 2010, under the leadership of an Italian architect Andrea Bruno, Georgia launched reconstruction works in order to return the cathedral to its original state. The reconstruction caused great controversy as UNESCO considered it detrimental to the authenticity of the cathedral. Major reconstruction works were completed in 2012.

Gelati Monastery: Gelati Monastery and Academy, is a historical monument from 12th c. The complex was founded by an iconic king of Georgia – David IV the Builder in 1106, during the period of the most flourishing historical period in medieval Georgia-the Golden Age. Gelati used to be the center of Georgian monastic and educational life through centuries. It also became the burial ground for Georgian kings: David IV, Demetrius I, kings of Imereti, Bagrat III, Giorgi II, Giorgi III, Alexander V, Solomon I. Many icons and artifacts, previously housed at the Gelati sacristy, are now kept and displayed at the Georgia Museum of Art and Kutaisi State Historical Museum.

Kutaisi: Explore Kutaisi city and stroll near drama theater on Agmashenebeli Square and Kutaisi Opera house to the direction of Kutaisi Historic district. Afterwards, cross the white bridge and go to farmer's market. Finish the tour at Kutaisi Central Garden "Boulevard" . Here we can see white stone statue of famous folk singers of Debi Ishkhnelebi.

Day 4: Tour around Kutaisi and Transfer to Batumi

This 1, 8 km one-hour trail is 40 meters below sea level and passes through all beautifully lighted 6 halls: Argonauts, Kolkheti, Medea, Love Hall, Prometheus and Iberia Halls. The pass finishes by pedestrian or boating tour on an underground flow of river Kumi. It takes only 15 minutes.

Okatse canyon: The canyon features a suspended walkway that extends along the edge, allowing visitors to traverse the rugged terrain and offering panoramic views of the lush surroundings.
